Monitoring of the groundworks associated with the redevelopment of 9 Kenneally’s Terrace was carried out on 1 March 2003. The site was located within the zone of archaeological potential for Youghal, situated on the southern boundary of the site of the extramural Our Lady of Graces Dominican Priory (SMR 67:30(01)). The excavation of the foundation footprint for a single-storey extension in the rear yard of the early 20th-century building contained a small amount of topsoil close to the north boundary wall of the site and was probably a flowerbed. The remainder of the material removed was greyish-green clay with modern rubble and was make-up for the yard surface. Excavation ceased at a depth of 0.4m below the existing internal floor level; the bottom of the clay and rubble make-up was not reached. No features or finds of archaeological significance were uncovered.
