Monitoring was carried out during conservation works at Wallingstown, Little Island, focusing on the removal of vegetation, topsoil and rubble from the upper surface of the principal vault of the structure. The depth of material excavated was generally 0.5m and the only feature of note was an inserted plinth along the western, southern and eastern walls. This feature was 0.37–0.45m wide, was generally 0.5m high and was built with stone and, occasionally, brick. It was considered to be a late insertion in the tower-house and was preserved during the conservation works. No finds or other features of archaeological interest were noted.
