As part of a road improvement scheme, a mid-19th-century single-arched bridge over the River Douglas, a tributary of the Sullane, at Rath East, Ballymakeera, Co. Cork, was widened and three sections of the road between Ballymakeera and Reanaree were widened. No archaeological features or artefacts were recorded during excavation of the riverbed at the bridge and a 3m-wide strip at the edge of the road.
