A boatyard is partially located within the constraint zone for Old Court tower-house and bawn at Oldcourt, Skibbereen, Co. Cork. A test excavation and an intertidal survey of the proposed development area were undertaken in August 2003.
Two trenches were excavated, one within and the other outside the bawn. No deposits or finds relating to the 15th/16th-century occupation of the tower-house were uncovered. A deposit associated with the 19th-century use of the area was uncovered within the bawn.
The non-intrusive intertidal survey and metal detecting of the mudflats to the east and north of the site also revealed nothing of archaeological origin.
