Testing was carried out to respond to a request for further information issued by the local authority prior to their consideration of an application for planning permission to develop 26 residential units and reconstruct an existing corn mill at Carrigboy, Durrus. No finds or features of archaeological interest were noted during the testing, though consultation with the Conservation Officer of Cork County Council regarding the reconstruction of the disused corn mill was recommended.
