Testing was undertaken on-site as part of a planning application. The proposed development stands on the site of a former 19th-century tannery in a suburb to the historic city of Cork. Seven features were exposed during testing: three sides of a possible stone-lined pit, a section of brick wall on a sandstone foundation, an area of cobbled flooring, two deposits of lime, one within a possible brick enclosure, a sandstone wall with concentrated lime deposit, a section of north–south sandstone wall and two sides of a possible brick-lined pit. All these features are likely to have been part of the tannery.
