A non-disturbance assessment took place of a 300m stretch of the River Lee prior to the proposed quayside redevelopment at Barry’s Timber Yard, Montenotte, Cork. Assessment was concentrated within the immediate impact area, although a significant buffer zone was included in the dive survey, and investigation extended 20m into the river channel. Assessment included visual inspection and magnetometry by hand-held metal detection. Particular attention was paid to recording riverbed topography and bottom composition, and highlighting any material concentrations. No archaeologically significant material was encountered.
