An assessment, including testing, was required for a development located to the rear of 13 George’s Quay, with a frontline onto Dunbar Street, Cork. The site is located within the zone of archaeological potential for the historic city of Cork. The proposed development will consist of basement car-parking and a three-storey building above. Two trenches were opened on-site. Both were c. 1m wide and c. 2m in depth. The stratigraphy in both was found to be comprised entirely of fill, confirming that the area was reclaimed in the last number of centuries. No evidence of houses, walls or habitation levels was found.
