A test-trench was excavated at the site of a proposed extension to the south façade of a dwelling-house located at Carrigrohanebeg, c. 6km east of Cork city. The north wall of the house forms part of the boundary wall of Carrigrohanebeg graveyard, within which are the ruins of a parish church. A U-shaped trench was excavated on the footprint of the proposed extension. Stratigraphy was similar throughout and consisted of modern paving over natural gravelly, sandy clay typical of the Lee River valley in which this site is located. The trench was archaeologically featureless.
