Monitoring took place of soil disturbance associated with the extension to Scarriff Harbour in east County Clare. Both the excavation of topsoil in a field to the south and east of the harbour and the excavation of material for the harbour extension were monitored. A stone-lined drain was revealed in the course of topsoil-stripping but was not disturbed. The excavations for the harbour extension revealed an orange-brown sandy subsoil which overlay a natural grey gravel layer. No features of archaeological significance were revealed in the course of monitoring.
