Testing was carried out at site AR01b on 11 June 2003 as part of a programme of site-specific testing along the route of the proposed Ennis Bypass. This area, highlighted as a zone of archaeological potential, consists of a stream running roughly in a west–east direction, an area of wet ground and a south-facing slope. Two trenches were excavated to natural by machine. In one, on the south-facing slope, nothing of archaeological interest was recorded. However, in the other, closer to the stream, the trench was excavated through peat, in which an animal bone was recovered, as well as two pieces of wood, one of which may have been worked. Further testing was recommended for this area.
