An area near a possible Early Christian cashel was excavated in advance of road construction on the N18 Ennis Bypass. Two small pits, one with evidence of metalworking, were possibly related to the monument. Other features, mostly ditches, were largely related to a gravel-surfaced roadway that fell out of use in the late 19th or early 20th century.
