The proposed development, the construction of an apartment block, is located on the shores of the River Erne within the zone of archaeological potential for Belturbet, Co. Cavan. Testing was carried out on 12 August 2003. Three trenches, measuring 50m, 45m and 35m by 1m, were excavated across the site to a depth of between 0.5 and 1.1m. No archaeological features or finds were uncovered during the course of the excavation.
