Monitoring was carried out at Centaur Street, Carlow, in September and October 2003. The development, which involves the construction of a mixed-use development and penthouse, lies within the archaeological zone of potential for Carlow.
A consistent stratigraphy was observed throughout the site. Previous groundworks in the area had raised the original ground level by importing rubble fill on-site to prevent against seasonal flooding. This rubble layer was, on average, over 1m thick. Nothing of archaeological significance was noted.
