The most recent phase of excavations at Ballygalley began in May 2002, in advance of a proposed housing development, and was completed in August 2003.
Excavation work undertaken since January 2003 has confirmed the findings summarised in Excavations 2002 (No. 4) and revealed a more extensive area of prehistoric activity. In general, the site consisted of numerous pits, gullies and post-holes filled with charcoal-flecked soils. A large quantity of flint (c. 65,000 struck pieces) and pottery (c. 7000 sherds) was recovered from these and the overlying occupation soil.
