Diamond Valley is a proposed development of three apartment blocks containing 90 apartments off the Upper Dargle Road, Bray, Co. Wicklow. It will involve the demolition of a derelict bungalow. In addition, there is provision for 160 underground parking spaces. The development site covers an area of 1.5ha. There are no recorded archaeological sites or historical structures in the proposed development area; the closest known monument is c. 800m from the site.
Testing took place from 15 to 17 May 2002. This was carried out using a mechanical digger fitted with a flat grading bucket. Eight test-trenches were excavated, all through topsoil and into geologically deposited strata.
Testing failed to reveal either subsurface features or portable finds. From the middle of the site to the eastern side of the proposed development-ground had been heavily disturbed in recent times, with modern pits containing red brick, roof tile, glass, plastic and car parts revealed.
