Monitoring in response to a planning condition took place on a public road at the western boundary of the Vale Oil Depot, New Ross, in March 2002. One 16m-long trench was excavated. Nothing of archaeological significance was uncovered. Modern made ground was found to overlie natural gravels throughout the trench. The gravels had been disturbed in several places by the excavation of modern service trenches.
