An assessment, including pre-development testing, was carried out in Hyde Park, Co. Westmeath, before a proposed extension to a piggery. The development is near monuments SMR 27:28 and 27:29. The area excavated consisted of a green field measuring 0.781ha; a single trench was also excavated in a yard area of the piggery. Six test-trenches were excavated using a mechanical digger with a 2m-wide toothless ditching bucket; around 12% of the greenfield area was tested. Nothing of archaeological significance was encountered.
