Gigginstown House is a 19th-century mansion of essentially classical architectural style. The proposed development is in the stable yard that adjoins Gigginstown House to the rear and includes the construction of a swimming pool along the west side of the stable yard and the conversion of other stables to apartments, along with alterations and additions to Gigginstown House.
Monitoring took place in two phases. In March 2002 the digging of seven inspection trenches by an engineer was monitored. In May 2002 the second phase involved the demolition of the west side of the stable block site and the reduction of ground levels before the insertion of the foundations of a building and the swimming pool within it. No features or finds of archaeological significance were recorded.
