Monitoring of topsoil removal from a glacial ridge, for a proposed quarry extension, took place over five days in August 2002. Excavation revealed natural stratigraphy. Topsoil was fairly compact, mid-brown, silty clay with a moderate amount of small stones. Below this, sterile gravel was found on the ridge and sterile orange subsoil on the lower-lying ground at the south of the site. There were also some patches of soft white marl on the lower-lying ground. Nothing of archaeological significance was discovered.
