This site was part of a complex of sites that extended along a 500m stretch of the pipeline corridor (including Nos 1854, 1856 and 1857, Excavations 2002). It was on the east-facing slope of a natural gravel ridge. The low hollows to the east and west were liable to flooding, and a tract of scrubby cutaway bog lay to the west.

The site consisted of an isolated pit measuring 0.96m by 0.68m. It was 0.1m deep. The fill was a mid-brown clay containing a moderate amount of charcoal inclusions and one small fragment of bone.
