Pre-development testing was undertaken on part of the proposed N8 Cashel Bypass and N74 Link Road, in the area to the north of Windmill ringfort and the medieval leper hospital. The site measured 160m by 30–45m. A longitudinal trench, measuring 160m east–west, was opened along the centre-line of the road, with perpendicular offsets at 10m intervals on the south side and 20m intervals on the north side.
A small cluster of features was uncovered at the western end of the centre-line trench. A further two pits were revealed at the eastern end of the test area. No datable finds were recovered.
