Testing was undertaken at this site, an enclosed yard and store, before possible development. The site is within the zone of archaeological potential of Tipperary town, near St Mary’s Church of Ireland church. Four trenches were opened by machine. All revealed natural sand at c. 0.4m below the surface of the yard. It was noted that the church graveyard, to the north and east, was c. 4m higher than the level of the site. After the testing, it was concluded that this site had probably been levelled in the past, so that it would be at the same level as Church Street. It is likely that any archaeological remains were removed at that time.
