Monitoring works for the Nenagh Main Drainage and Sewerage Scheme have been taking place from 2 July 2002. During the monitoring a possible prehistoric hearth was encountered and excavated under licence 02E1204 (see No. 1741, Excavations 2002). A water-rounded granite hammerstone was found in disturbed stratifications on the Thurles Road and is therefore undatable. The remains of a possible 18th-century arched stream culvert were revealed beneath Kenyon Street, which were photographed.
