The site is being redeveloped as a private dwelling as part of the Town Renewal Scheme 2000. A single trench was mechanically excavated along the length of the proposed building. Surprisingly, it came down almost directly onto the gravel subsoil, so it appears that all early deposits have been removed from site, probably at the time that the old building was erected. There was a single feature cut into the subsoil. This appeared to be a semicircle in plan, continuing into the eastern section. The function and date of the feature are not known, but it is at least 1.2m deep. The feature will be preserved under the proposed raft foundation.
