The site was previously reported on in Excavations 2000 (No. 921), when a test excavation and subsequent monitoring took place. In the meantime the development plans were changed, and a further test excavation was required of an area outside the initial area of development. Part of the foundations of the town wall was uncovered during testing on 13 September 2002, and the plans for the development were amended to avoid impinging on the wall. Further archaeological work on the site is to take place in 2003.
