Monitoring of an ESB pipe-laying scheme was carried out in Cashel from October to December 2002. The mechanically excavated trench was never more than 1m wide and 1.1m deep. In Gashouse Lane the trench followed the course of an existing ESB underground cable. In Boherclogh and Lower Gate Street the pipeline was excavated through entirely modern ‘made’ ground associated with the Cashel Sewerage Scheme. No features or artefacts of archaeological significance were uncovered during this work.
