Monitoring was conducted from 7 January to 12 February 2002 of footpath and services replacement for Cashel Urban District Council in the medieval urban zone of Cashel town. A number of features were encountered during the monitoring. On Friar Street a Victorian street surface was revealed, which consisted of cobbled shores and a compacted pebble road surface. The stone foundation remains of a possible medieval building were also uncovered, with animal bone, oyster shells and some 13th–14th-century pottery. The nature of the development allowed these features to be preserved in situ.
Nothing of cultural heritage significance was encountered on Dominic Street.
On John Street part of a Victorian street surface was revealed similar to that found on Friar Street. A quantity of animal bone was also recovered. The nature of the development allowed these features to be preserved in situ.
On William Street the remains of a post-medieval foundation wall were uncovered, as well as a large quantity of animal bone. The nature of the development allowed these features to be preserved in situ.
Nothing of cultural heritage significance was encountered on Dundrum Road.
