Pre-construction testing was undertaken on a site at Pearse Lane, Cahir, Co. Tipperary. The owners sought planning permission for two dwellings and associated site works. Four trenches were opened on the site; no archaeological remains were revealed in any of them. The results of the testing indicated that the activity on the site was predominantly of 18th-/19th-century date. Deposits of stone, rubble, hardcore, brick and dumps of lime mortar were present in all of the trenches. Such material reflected earlier activity on the site, including the building and subsequent demolition of sheds. Datable finds were sparse. Blackware, red brick and creamware were, nonetheless, visible in the deposits.
