Pre-construction testing was undertaken to establish whether archaeological remains survive on a knoll on the route of the proposed N8 Cashel Bypass. A number of test-trenches were excavated across the top of the knoll. A longitudinal central trench, measuring 200m north–south by 1.8m, was opened. Offset trenches were opened at right angles to the centre-line strip at 20m intervals, extending the width of the road. No archaeological remains were uncovered in any of the trenches.
