Monitoring of hydrological/hydrogeological test-pits for a proposed treatment works/pumping station took place in the townlands of Lisnalurg and Shannon Oughter, Co. Sligo. An assessment of the proposed Tessan/Lisnalurg/Shannon Oughter Sewerage Scheme had previously been undertaken and had identified one known monument in the study area, SMR 14:17, an enclosure site on top of an east–west-running ridge. Other features of possible significance were also noted.
Fourteen test-pits were excavated, none in the immediate vicinity of known or potential archaeological features. No artefacts or features of archaeological significance were found. The trenches excavated were small, and, although archaeological features were not encountered, it is possible that such features exist in the development site.
