Monitoring took place in October 2002 of a development at Finned, Easky, Co. Sligo, comprising an extension to farm buildings by the provision of a cattle shed and underground effluent storage tanks. The site measured c. 27m by 25m and was stripped in two layers: a fill of stones and rough clay overlay good soil up to 0.6m deep. The limestone bedrock beneath this was reached in several places.
The site is on the western edge of a monument described as a field system in the SMR but as earthworks in the SMR file. An inspection of the aerial photograph numbered GSI G20–1 Roll 156, Pr. 25, suggests that there may have been a barrow cemetery here. The photograph indicates a series of small circular cropmarks, possibly four, more in keeping with a ploughed-out barrow group. The feature runs west-north-west/east-south-east, crossing north of the farmyard.
