The site is on the outskirts of Sligo town, immediately west of the existing Finisklin Industrial Estate, and is currently occupied by agricultural land surrounding a farmhouse known as Fort Garry House. Testing was undertaken on the line of a proposed access road before the development of the site for use as a business and technology park.
A single trench was excavated along the centre of the proposed access road. No archaeological features were identified. Typical stratigraphy consisted of dark brown topsoil, c. 0.27m thick, above orange to grey/brown, sandy clay. Further work will be required at this site as the development proceeds.
