Excavated on 26 and 27 June 2002, this site, exposed during monitoring of Section 2 of the Pipeline to the West, was beside a small pond. The subcircular feature measured 3.3m east–west by 3.5m. It consisted of a thin layer of compact, grey/black, coarse silt, 0.07m deep, with a moderate amount of heat-fractured stone. The deposit had a low charcoal content; it was presumably leached away by regular flooding. Excavation of the feature revealed few traces of in situ burning or other finds or features.
