An enlarged sewerage scheme is being installed in Clara by Offaly County Council. The existing sewage treatment plant is to be extended. This involves groundworks in previously undisturbed ground at the present works on the Ferbane Road. Some excavations were completed in December 2002. Nothing of archaeological significance was discovered. The work is continuing and is projected to end in July 2003.
