Planning permission had been given for the demolition of a stone-built terraced house that occupied this site. A condition of the development of the site was that an archaeological evaluation be undertaken. Two trenches were excavated by a machine with a toothless bucket. The trenches ran from the street frontage to the rear of the back plot. Trench 1 was 25m long, and Trench 2 was 20m long. The ground was considerably higher to the rear of the site, suggesting that some terracing of the slope would have been necessary before the construction of the recently demolished building. The two trenches encountered nothing of archaeological interest other than the stone foundations of the building that had just been demolished.
