The street-front end of the site was excavated in February 2002, assessment in 2001 having revealed medieval deposits (Excavations 2001, No. 1065). Excavation uncovered a shallow, early medieval ditch extending along and parallel to the street-front end of the site.
The heavily disturbed remains of a large, 13th- or 14th-century, stone house with a cesspit to its rear survived at the western end of the site. The remainder of the site was used for metalworking in the 13th and 14th centuries. Extensive deposits of ash, slag, burnt debris and burnt floors were found. A small assemblage of medieval pottery was uncovered.
