Testing of the realignment of the Edenderry Road as part of the Kinnegad–Enfield–Kilcock M4 project took place and identified a number of possible archaeological features. Designated as Rossan 2, this site was composed of two areas: a wetland and a dryland area.
The wetland area consisted of a large amount of wood preserved in shallow fen peat. When the wood was first exposed, it seemed to exhibit an orientation, and possible elements of structure were discerned. On excavation, however, the wood was found to be the remains of a natural alder forest preserved in the peat. The lowest layers of wood rested directly on the natural marl.
The dryland area, to west, had two main linear features, each containing a stone-covered drain, that were roughly perpendicular to each other. Three modern plastic pipes were also observed, and fifteen tree boles were recorded.
