The site at Rossan 1 was identified during centre-line testing of the M4 Kinnegad–Enfield–Kilcock Motorway. A number of potential archaeological features were identified on the site, none of which was visible on the field surface before excavation. Excavation revealed the remains of a 19th-century structure with associated hedges and field boundaries that are marked on the 1836–37 OS 6-inch map. Only the base of the structural walls survived.
Also uncovered was a small area of prehistoric activity in the south-eastern corner of the field, represented by a series of pits and charcoal-rich deposits.
