Monitoring was carried out during the construction of the Longwood Water-Supply Scheme in April 2002. The development required excavations for a water pipeline along two roads between the village and a borehole site c. 1.2km to the east.
A small stone-built bridge was uncovered, forming part of a modern bridge 0.5km east of the village on the Kilmurray Road. It was proposed to perforate the bridge in order to pass the pipe through the arch. After consultation with the architectural section of DĂșchas, it was decided that the bridge was of fairly modern origin and would not be significantly affected by the work. Nothing else of archaeological significance was noted during the monitoring.
