An assessment of this site was carried out before the construction of the M4 Kinnegad–Enfield–Kilcock Motorway Scheme, Contract 2, on behalf of Westmeath County Council on 12 February 2002.

Eight test-trenches were excavated in the area of the road-take adjacent to Site AE10, linear features identified by Valerie J. Keeley in May 2001 via aerial photography. Only one of these lines comes near to the road-take. They probably represent old field boundaries and are in the same position as the field boundaries depicted on the 1837 OS map. A single field drain was exposed on this site. This feature extended as far as the River Gilosh, which bordered the site to the north.
