Monitoring of groundworks at Gallstown Quarry, Dunleer, associated with the construction of a haul road connecting the present quarry to a new section was conducted. The work is part of continuing operations at the site since 1995 (Excavations 1995, No. 219), when Donald Murphy began the monitoring. Topsoil was mechanically stripped to reveal thin deposits of natural clay overlying bedrock. No archaeological features or finds were recovered. Further work is expected to be carried out in 2003.
