The test excavation of the proposed site of sixteen semi-detached dwellings and associated works to the rear of Aidan Street, Kiltimagh, Co. Mayo, was carried out on 8 and 9 May 2002, because the proposed development was within the constraint zone of a ringfort, SMR 80:32. Five trenches were excavated by machine. The testing revealed natural, undisturbed stratigraphy. Natural subsoil lay below the topsoil. Nothing of archaeological significance was uncovered.
