The test excavation of a site at Devlis townland, Ballyhaunis, Co. Mayo, was carried out on 6 and 7 June 2002 because the proposed development was within the constraint zone of an enclosure, SMR 93:54. The development consisted of the construction of 28 dwellings and a communal facility. Four trenches were excavated by machine. The topsoil in all trenches contained modern artefacts. Nothing of archaeological significance was uncovered.
