An Esat Digifone mast was proposed for the upper slopes of a gravel ridge, which contains a poorly preserved univallate enclosure on the summit, at Ballyhine, Kilkelly. Most of the enclosure interior cannot be discerned today, as it contains a large concrete water reservoir. The proposed mast was to be erected on ground at least 20m to the north-east of, and at least 2.4m lower than, the outer edge of the enclosure. Monitoring the construction of the access trackway indicated no features or artefacts of archaeological significance. Additionally, seven test-trenches at the site showed it to be archaeologically sterile.
