An assessment was carried out on the pitch of Glen Emmets Gaelic Football Club, Tullyallen, Drogheda, Co. Louth, in January 2002, where it was proposed to alter the level of the playing pitches. Four areas were stripped of topsoil, exposing the natural boulder clay. One of these trenches revealed two potential archaeological features c. 6m apart. The western one was a semicircular cut containing a soft, loose, mid- to dark brown clay fill. The feature measured 5.1m in maximum length and 0.3m in maximum width. The second feature was to the north-east and was also semicircular. It measured 6.1m in maximum length and 0.15m in maximum width. The fill was a mid- to dark brown clay. Apart from this, no archaeological features were exposed on the site. It was recommended that these two features be fully excavated before the start of groundworks.
