Planning consent was granted for development at the rear of and to the north of Shearman’s Bar in Dunleer. Before development, which would involve demolition, an architectural survey was undertaken. The demolition was then monitored, and trenches were excavated using a machine with a toothless bucket. The masonry to be demolished proved to be of little significance, and demolition duly proceeded. Three trenches were excavated but produced no features or finds of archaeological interest.
