After an archaeological assessment and recommendations by Dúchas, monitoring of the insertion of piles, the preparation of trenches for ground-beams and associated groundworks at the site of a proposed development at 40 John Street, Drogheda, Co. Louth, took place in October 2002.
Some sherds of medieval pottery and part of a possible medieval shoe were recovered during the insertion of piles. The impact of the groundworks on archaeological deposits was minimal.
