Donaghmore 7, 50m east of Donaghmore 1 (No. 1305, Excavations 2002), contained the foundation remains of a circular structure that had been made of wood and was destroyed by fire. A circular foundation trench was revealed, 8m in diameter, with greatly varying depth: 0.48m deep at the western side, where topsoil was deep and protected it from modern farming, but only 0.1m deep at the eastern side, where it had been heavily truncated in recent times. This sat directly on a natural subsoil comprising loose stone and broken shale; no other features were identified, and no floor surface was found, if this site is the remains of a prehistoric circular hut. However, at the base of the trench in three areas the remains of three burnt wooden beams were identified and gathered for analysis (results are pending).
