An assessment was carried out in January 2002 on the site of a proposed residential and commercial development at Ardee Street, Collon, Co. Louth. At the time of testing, a Statoil service station occupied the site, with a shop unit and a forecourt containing fuel pumps. Four trenches were excavated. All except the southernmost revealed evidence of modern disturbance. In every case the natural sand and gravel were exposed below the modern ground surface. No archaeological features were revealed, and no finds of interest were retrieved.
